Curious. Driven. Quick. Imaginative. Strategic. Confident. Independent. Decisive. Hard-working. Determined. Analytical. Over-sharer. Louisville Cardinal fanatic. New York Mets devotee. Dog lover. Boyband admirer. Travel enthusiast. Millennial?
My grandfather is, by far, the biggest influence in my life. I tell everyone I meet that he is my best friend, the love of my life, and my phone lock screen. He gave me confidence, determination, and supported me through everything I tried. His influence has made me strive to make him proud in everything I do
Growing up in Smalltown, USA is something I never liked but wouldn't change for the world. It taught me how to be diplomatic- because everyone is in everyone else's business, disciplined- so I could get the hell out of there, and creative- so I could find someway to entertain myself.
I am the youngest of 4 children and was constantly with my extended family throughout my childhood. Being part of a big family means it's really easy to get lost in the shuffle. I learned how to perform and compete, but also fall in line when need be. I know how to communicate and make my voice heard as well as be a team player and realize there is always a bigger picture.
Never one to follow the rules, I have been referred to as "wild child" since birth. I have never met a challenge from which I've wanted to back down nor a problem I wasn't hell-bent on solving.
Convincing my parents to let me go to college 8 hours from home when they wanted me to stay in my hometown of Binghamton, NY for school was by far a shining moment. Not only did it open my eyes to the fact that there was life beyond my hometown, but also that there are so many more people and opportunities that I never imagined possible.
Coming to VCU for undergrad changed the course of my life drastically. I grew up in a town with more churches than stoplights and in the same neighborhood as my mother had. My parents are high school sweethearts from my high school and no one every really leaves. Being in Richmond has made me realized my independence and strength in a way I have never imagined possible, allowing my life to truly begin
I've learned how to make anywhere feel like home and I know you're only out of place if you allow yourself to think that you are. I know how to build and maintain relationships, communicate with all types of people at differing ages, and that if I can handle being a double major, working almost full time in a completely new city, I can handle anything else life throws at me.
Contrary to how serious this bio has been so far, I am very much still the wild child at heart. I will try anything, go anywhere, and am always joking around. I know more song lyrics, Louisville basketball stats, and have more love for Wilmer Flores than the average person should, but hey we all have our quirks.
